Commitment- Is Simone Insane?

Simone went to her sisters house, reluctantly, to find something to wear to the 'Great Halloween Party' that everyone seemed to be so excited about.  Her niece was curling her mom's hair into ringlets like the angel in the Philadelphia cream cheese commercial.

The two of them had already decided what Simone should be, and they pulled out the goods from a bag.  There was a leather coat, a leather bandanna with orange flames on it, sleeves for her arms that looked like tattoo's, and a long red haired wig, and a T shirt with a skeleton on it.  Yes, they wanted her to be a biker babe.  Simone thought that would work, and was getting into the swing of things, and actually getting a bit excited herself.  She had a pair of pants with leather up the side, and she had some boots that would work.

Her niece suggested she put some balloons in her shirt to make her chest look huge.  They all laughed at that and Simone remembered she had some balloons left over from one of her displays.  All she needed now was a belt for her waist, because the Shirt was too big and the balloons would fall through.  She found one at a dress shop, and as far as she could see, she was all set.

She thought of calling the guy from the lake back and asking him to come to the party, but chose not to.  Mostly, she just did not want to be bothered with it.  Simone was not ready for any man in her life, and she was not sure how she felt about him, because she wasn't really attracted.

Once at the party, Simone decided she was not going to drink, because she had taken her own car and had to drive home.  Besides that, she wanted to attend church in the morning, because they were going to be talking about the third 'Life Healing Choice', and she didn't want to miss it, or feel terrible the next day.

Her outfit was a hit, and everyone commented on how good her costume was and "how big her boobs were", and at first Simone was having fun with it.  However, as the evening went on, she was hearing a lot of slurred sexual innuendo's from the men at the party, both young and old, and it was starting to make her feel dirty.  Then, they tried to feel her balloons, and put their faces on her chest, and Simone was finding it offensive.  People were really starting to get drunk and they were acting horribly.  It was time for her to leave.

As she drove home, she thought about the party, the drinking and she decided, this was not something she thought was fun.  She was glad she had not asked the guy from the lake to come to the party, and she also yearned for her life and her church friends back in California.  They could have a lot more fun than this without having to drink alcohol and do drugs.

She did not care anymore, if people thought she was a prude.  She just could not fit in with this lifestyle, it was not for her.  She wanted a man like Joe, a real man, a wise man, who walked the talk.

That night she dreamed about him, and in the morning, she could not get him off her mind.  She went to church, and could almost feel his warm body, sitting beside her, and she remembered how during worship he raised his strong muscled arms in praise to God, and how under those strong arms she felt so pure and protected.  When she thought about him, she thought of a strait arrow, and every other man since him, seemed like a twisted stick in comparison.  She had seen the man at the lake smoke pot and drink, but she had also seen men in the church do that.   In her heart, she was sure, he was not a 'man of God'.   She also knew there were lots of men at church who pretended to be.  Joe was real, he was a man after God's own heart, of that she was sure.

The third "Life's Healing Choice" was to BE COMMITTED.  Simone thought about commitment, and realized she had not committed to anything since returning to this God forsaken place.  She had been committed once, to God, and to waiting upon Him, and doing His will.

She wondered when she had stopped Following, and when her own Will had taken over...

  1. My husband loves to drink beer when he's home. He would also smoke pot if he could. He can't because he gets drug tested regularly. This does not in anyway stop or hinder him from being the most caring, loving, strong and God fearing man that I have ever known. Perhaps you may need to rethink that part SIMONE. You can't always judge a book by it's cover. I am sorry that your night didn't turn out quite as good as you would have liked. Next year may be a whole new experience! Love Di ♥

  2. I guess the 'display' balloons were just not to be ignored. Sorry things got distasteful for you, Simone. You seem to miss California a lot; I know you have a son and grandchildren there. What if's and regrets affect ones present life, life is short...it's better to make peace with the past and present and do what your heart and soul tells you, for your future. TH
